About GIEMW

The Global Institute Emotional and Mental Wellness SA. (GIEMW) was founded in 2019 as a non-profit organization with a mission to create awareness around issues of mental and emotional health, eradicate stigma and to promote support for all experiencing any form of mental or emotional illness disorder by educating the  public and corporates about early intervention, preventative measures and the various mental health challenges and promote wellness. The organization was founded by Mr. HM. Khoza , who has vast experience in people management having worked in leadership positions in the retail and media space for many years, over the years he witnessed people struggling with depression, bullying and other mental and social challenges. Due to lack of information, ignorance, misinformation, and stigma around the topic many opted to suffer in silence leading up to severe mental health problems and suicide in some cases. This then ignited the idea of an NGO that will address these challenges and that is how we started building up on the concept of GIEMW SA. From 2019, the focus has been on setting up a victim/perpetrator friendly environment that will allow dialogue to promote and restore mental wellbeing for both the victim and perpetrator.

FAQ

We provide people with various tools to learn about and look after their mental health. Our website is full of advice and information on what to do if you’re struggling with how you feel. We empower parents, institutions and any adults who work with both young and old people, to be the best support they can be to the people in their lives. And we give young people the space and confidence to get their voices heard and change the world we live in. Together, we can create a world where no person feels alone with their mental health.

We all have mental health, just like we all have physical health. It’s about how we think,
feel and act. Sometimes we feel well, and sometimes we don’t. When our mental health
is good, we feel motivated and able to take on challenges and new experiences. But
when our mental health is not so good, we can find it much harder to cope.

We all have good days and bad days, but when negative thoughts and feelings start to
affect your daily life and stop you doing the things you enjoy, or your ability to feel ok, this
means you probably need some support with your mental health. For example, nearly
everyone gets anxious before an exam, a job interview or a first date. But if we feel
anxious all the time, constantly worrying that the worst could happen, and this stops us
sleeping well or meeting up with friends, we might benefit from some help. Find out more
about mental health.
